Keeping the cemetery a safe place to visit
Hemswell Parish Council is a Burial Authority that has a duty to carry out regular inspections and safety tests to ensure the cemetery is a safe place for you to visit. Inspections include visual assessment, hand-testing and making detailed records of the results. You will see signs and notices at the cemetery and village notice boards about the work we will doing and you can read more about what is involved and what happens to unsafe memorials on this page link.
If you tend the grave of a loved one, or are responsible for a memorial in the cemetery please contact the clerk via hemswellparishcouncil@gmail.com if you have any concerns about the inspection and tests we will be doing. We know that this can be a sensitive issue and will work closely with family members to ensure the cemetery remains a peaceful and safe place to visit.
